Operation Bernhard” by Nazi Germany

 

 In 1959, a German magazine funded a dive that recovered £700 million of Great British Pound counterfeit notes Hitler planned on using to sabotage the English economy.

 These fake English notes were perfectly preserved 300 ft below Lake Toplitz, an isolated lake located in the heart of a lush forest in the Alps, Austria.O and it was called operation Bernhard” was s secret counterfeiting campaign by Nazi Germany to forge British bank notes, to destroy the British economy.

It began originally with the idea of making perfect copies of British bank notes & then dropping them all over Britain, resulting in the collapse of the British Economy and At the end of WWII, the Nazis tried to cover-up their clandestine activities, including these counterfeiting. So they took the counterfeiting equipment & the notes, & dumped them in the Lake Toplitz. 

The Nazis dumped billions of dollars worth of stolen gold worth $5.6 billion into the waters of Lake Toplitz. Extensive Treasure Hunting dives has gone on in this Lake & its surrounding area. Lake Toplitz is one of the most dangerous lakes in the world to go hunting for treasures.  Like the Curse of the Oak Island Treasures, at least 5 people have died trying to scour the dangerous Lake for its Gold.

Most treasure hunter have been trying to find these Nazi treasures for years. Many have dived & many have lost their lives. 

Meanwhile, Inasmuch as they dropped most of the counterfeit pounds in the lake, most of the stolen items such as gold artwork and precious stones were shipped via U-boat to Argentina. Their level of subterfuge was unimaginable and unparalleled.
